Compression before curing. The CB16 grade is pressed to 1500-1600 kg/m3, against 1300-1450 kg/m3 for standard grades — raising bending strength to 22 MPa, impact resistance to 12 kJ/m2 and screw withdrawal to 1200 N, and closing the surface for cleaner machining and lower water uptake.
Is this board suitable for ventilated facade systems?
Yes — 9-12 mm CB16 is the classic ventilated-facade carrier and finish board, tested to EN 12467 category A for external exposure. We CNC-cut panel schedules with finished edges so site work is fixing only; through-colour and primed faces are available.
Can it be used in marine environments?
Yes — fibre cement does not corrode and CB16’s closed matrix resists salt spray; it is used in ship and offshore accommodation fit-outs where A1 non-combustibility is mandatory. IMO-specific certification, where required, is quoted per project.
Does high density mean harder to cut on site?
It machines beautifully but wears blades faster: use diamond or PCD blades and score-and-snap only below 8 mm. For facade work order CNC cut-to-size and skip site cutting entirely — the finished edges are cleaner than any site cut.
